Fezdak Clamchopbreath had reached a crossroads. He’d turned down a role on MTV’s The Real World, where he would have played a character version of himself. Simultaneously, he found himself kicked off the radio after attempting to break the world record for urine output. He was feeling burnt-out and disillusioned. He yearned for a simpler existence, away from the spotlight and the bizarre pursuits that had defined his life thus far.
In a bold move, Fezdak departed Olympia to join his girlfriend in Guatemala. It proved to be a transformative decision, perhaps the best one he had ever made. Recognizing the potential pitfalls of his previous path, he eschewed the pursuit of fame through eccentricity in favor of a more grounded existence. Armed with nothing but a mechanical typewriter, he embarked on a journey of self-discovery in the heart of Central America.
Every day, Fezdak would find a public space and begin typing, allowing his thoughts to flow freely onto the page in a continuous stream of consciousness. He saw himself as a conduit, channeling the boundless creativity of the universe through his fingertips. His mind became an antenna, tuned in to the cosmic source of inspiration and imagination.
The resulting writings were a tapestry of haphazard associations and poetic musings, reflecting both the depths of Fezdak's troubled psyche and the soaring heights of his creative spirit. Romance, death, and the fleeting beauty of chance moments all found expression in his prose. There were a lot of overlapping haphazard associations and lyrical wonders. Some of it was good.
Some of it was about love. After living in a two-room apartment with Bryce, Shannon, and Josh, they were finally alone. They talked about how random occurrences were the best moments of life. One night, after they made an improvised seder with tortillas, refried beans, grape juice, and candles, they made something else, something new, something good.
Fezdak woke up early the next day, found a place off a crowded street, and wrote this science fiction story, his first.
